We provide corrective packaging for dangerous goods shipments that have been frustrated at New York Area Airports. Due to errors at the point of distribution, mishandling, or improper loading on trucks, shipments arrive at the airport for presentation to air carriers and are rejected due to damaged or improper packaging. Frequently the forwarder or trucker returns the shipment to the shipper for corrective action causing two or three or more days of additional delays. R-A Specialists maintains a large inventory of U.N. Specification packages that meet or exceed U.S. D.O.T., ICAO, IATA and IMO packaging requirements. Our packaging specialists usually provide same day or next day corrective packing. We have also provided contract packing for a number of foreign governments, airlines, cosmetics shippers, battery distributors, and the aerospace industry.

Dangerous Goods Consulting

We have provided consulting services to a large variety of corporations since 1976. We have assisted airlines in developing their own hazmat training and handling programs. We have assisted cosmetics companies in developing packaging techniques and distribution systems. We provide assistance in determining hazard classification systems and product review for smaller chemical companies and Fortune 100 pharmaceutical corporations since 1983. We have provided guidance in selecting packaging and distribution systems for new medical products ranging from radioactive devices to chemotherapy drugs and research projects involving infectious substances. Our company has provided hazmat consulting services to companies that develop a variety of hazmat computer programs. Hazmat compliance audits with realistic anticipation of potential transportation problems and have routinely provided our clients with support in perfecting frustration-free U.S. domestic and export distribution programs. We have provided coordination between shippers/forwarders and their domestic and international carriers.

Hazmat Inspection

We serve a number of shippers/forwarders by providing automatic inspection, marking, labeling, and documentation services for dangerous goods shipments prior to delivery to freight forwarders and airlines. When necessary, corrective packaging can be accomplished to provide expeditious movement of dangerous goods. Dangerous Goods Declarations, Emergency Response Plans, 24-hour emergency response telephone contacts, and security endorsements are issued to provide one-stop hazardous materials services to eliminate delays.

Airline Endorsements

We providing approvals or endorsements as a carrier-nominated authority concerning compliance issues under IATA Rule 8.1.4.2. We provide verification services to the airline industry. When airline cargo agents are concerned about chemical shipments they rely on our services to verify whether a chemical shipment is hazardous or not. They are confident of our experience, research materials and databases, and our non-adversary methods of communicating with manufacturers. We have an outstanding record of honesty and integrity based upon a total of 50+ years of airline and hazmat experience.

Due to our 50+ years of experience in air transportation, all phases of hazardous materials compliance and handling, expertise in U.S. and international regulations, cargo and personal security issues, and the ability to communicate in understandable language, we can assist attorneys in compliance issues as well as provide expert testimony in legal matters.

European Union Dangerous Goods Advisors

R-A Specialists was one of the first American Corporations to qualify employees as Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors. We have expanded our relationships with other independent Safety Advisors throughout Europe in order to provide our clients with excellent support for their transportation and distribution systems.

Pharmaceutical Packaging

Refrigerated and dry ice packaging for pharmaceuticals and special packaging for non-hazardous medical shipments and vaccines have been routine services of R-A Specialists since 1976. We have provided logistic support to a number of research expeditions throughout the world. New package development for unique requirements is a standard operational procedure for R-A Specialists.

We have provided logistic support to a number of research expeditions throughout the world. New package development for unique requirements is a standard operational procedure for R-A Specialists. Additionally, one of our clients involved in medical research recently tested one of our unique packaging designs to determine if temperature sensitive products could be maintained at ambient temperatures during transportation. They were able to successfully maintain temperatures between +16 and +21°C for 5 days.
